Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) — A multipurpose alarm has recently been developed by the Korea Chongchun Trading Company. The invention consists of a main body, a remote controller and heat, gas, infrared ray and magnetism sensors.

North Korea off hook for 2009 cyberattacks?

North Korea has largely been ruled out as the source of a series of cyberattacks on South Korea in July 2009, the Associated Press reports quoting security experts.
The attacks targeted South Korean and U.S. government and corporate Web sites for about a week. The attacks took some of the sites down for lengthy periods of time.

Voice of Korea English A10 schedule

Voice of Korea, the DPRK’s international shortwave broadcasting service, is on the air everyday in several languages. The English language broadcasts appear to be refreshed during the day (local time) for the evening broadcast and then repeated overnight.
The news is similar to the English-language stories from KCNA, but there are some differences. It’s generally a day behind the news being put out on the domestic service in Korean.

Cell Phone Demand Stays Strong at Koryolink

Koryolink, North Korea’s only 3G cellular operator, saw sales more than double in the first three months of this year as it expanded its network coverage and enjoyed continued demand for its service.
At the end of March the company had 125,661 subscribers, a gain just under 34,000 subscribers over the quarter, according to majority-shareholder Orascom Telecom. The Egyptian company, which invests in cellular operators in developing nations, owns 75 percent of Koryolink.
Kim Il Sung University Boasts Its E-Library

Govt to produce own 3G handsets

North Korea is planning to begin producing its own 3G handsets, according to a report from telecom-analyst TeleGeography, which in turn quotes the Chosun Simbo.
